SHRI UDAY PATWARDHAN, PRABHARI, COAL & NON COAL TOURING BMS UNIONS IN WCL

SHRI UDAY PATWARDHAN, PRABHARI, COAL & NON COAL WILL BE TOURING AREAS OF WCL IN MAHARASHTRA AND MADHYA PRADESH TO INTERACT WITH THE ACTIVISTS OF BMS UNIONS FROM 14 OCT. 2008 TO 16 OCT. 2008.

24 ACTIVISTS OF AKHIL BHARATIYA KHADAN MAZDOOR SANGH PARTICIPATED IN 3 DAYS TRAINING PROGRAMME ON "DYNAMICS OF LEADERSHIP" AT INDIAN INSTITUTE OF WORKERS EDUCATION, KURLA, MUMBAI ON 29, 30 SEPT. 2008 AND 1 OCT 2008. FOLLOWING WERE THE SUBJECTS FOR THREE DAYS TRAINING PROGRAMME:-

PARTICIPANTS WERE DRAWN FROM DIFFERENT COMPANIES OF COAL INDIA LIMITED VIZ. BCCL, ECL, NCL, CCL, SECL, WCL, MCL AND SINGAARENI COLLIERIES COMPANY LIMITED.

THE PARTICIPANTS WERE TRAINED APPROPRIATELY TO TRAIN THE CADRES OF BHARATIYA MAZDOOR SANGH IN THE COMING DAYS.

JBCCI MEETING AT KOLKOTA ON 11-12 SEPTEMBER 2008

COAL INDIA LIMITED HAS CALLED THE MEETING OF JBCCI ON 11-12 SEPTEMBER 2008. DURING THIS MEETING THE QUANTUM OF AMOUNT TO BE DISTRIBUTED AS PLRS TO THE EMPLOYEES WILL BE DECIDED. FURTHER THE MEETING MAY DISCUSS TO CONSIDER THE BASIC WAGES AND MGB FOR CAT-I MAZOOR FOR NCWA-VIII. THE OUTCOME OF THE MEETING SHALL BE KNOWN TO EVERYBOY ON 13.9.2008.

JBCCI MEETING DECISIONS ON 27.8.2008 AT NEW DELHI

THE RECENTLY CONCLUDED JBCCI MEETING HELD AT NEW DELHI HAS DECIDED THAT THE NCWA-VIII WILL BE FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE YEARS FROM 1.7.2006 TO 30.6.2011. 50% ARREARS ARISING OUT OF GRANT OF INTERIM RELIEF TO EMPLOYEES WILL BE PAID BY 25TH SEPT. 2008. NEXT MEETING OF JBCCI WILL BE HELD ON 11-12 SEPT. 2008 AT KOLKOTA. DECISIUON ON BONUS(PLRS) TO EMPLOYEES WILL BE DECIDED IN THIS MEETING. FURTHER DISCUSSION WILL BE HELD FOR REACHING TO AN AMICABLE FIGURE OF MINIMUM BASIC PAY AND MINIMUM GUARANTEED BENEFIT(MGD) WILL ALSO BE DISCUSSED IN THE MEETING TO BE HELD ON 11-12 SEPT. 2008.

44TH CIL SAFETY BOARD MEETING CONCLUDES






  • 44TH CIL Safety Board meeting was held at Kolkota on 7th August 2008. Shri N C Jha, Dir(Tech.), CIL presided the meeting in the absence of Chairman, CIL.

    During his address Shri Man Mohan Sharma, DGMS said :-

    · Fatal accidents increased from 33 in 2007 to 38 in the year 2008.
    · Dumpers & Truck accidents increased.
    · If management of CIL cannot control its contractors and their workers, there is no point in outsourcing work in Coal Industry.
    · 8 hours work to be strictly complied.
    · Accidents of contractors’ workers are 25%. This is too high.
    · Accidents of regular workers are 75%.
    · Accidents increase due to large scale deployment of contractors’ workers in OC Mines.
    · 25% accidents occur due to roof fall.
    · There is no quality assurance of roof bolt and capsule. Inferior quality capsules to be outrightly rejected. In watery strata cement capsules should not be used instead use resin capsule.
    · CIL require 41 Man Riding System but it has only 10. This is a very sorry state.
    · Minister agreed to monitor health of workers every year instead of 5 years.

CIL TO PAY INCOME TAX ON HOUSE ACCOMMODATION

CIL has communicated to its Subsidiary companies that the Income Tax payable on accommodtion provided to its employees will be borne by the CIL and its subsidiay companies. For this purpose the companies will calculate Income Tax of its employees with and without housing perquisites. The difference of Income Tax in both the calculations will be paid by the CIL and its subsidiary companies. This has reference to CIL letter No.CIL/DF/115/65 dated25.6.2008.

JUSTICE TO CONTRACTORS WORKERS IN COAL INDIA LIMITED

Coal India Limited has deployed through its contractors many workers in its mines spread in 9 states of India. These workers are exploited by their employer i.e. Contractor by way of excess working hours, meagre wages and also exposing them to various hazards making them work without any safety gears. The Akhil Bharatiya Khadan Mazdoor Sangh(Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) demands that these contractor's workers should be paid minimum basic wage of Rs.5550.00 as per National Coal Wage Agreement-VII. These and other related issues will be highlighted in a memorandum to be submitted to the Sub Area Managers after a demonstration in all Sub Areas of Coal Companies on 7th, 8th and 9th August 2008.

HEALTH DAY IN COAL INDIA LIMITED BY BMS

Akhil Bharatiya Khadan Mazdoor Sangh (Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) observed 1st August 2008 all over the coal mines spread in India as Health Day. On this day a memorandum has been given to the management of Coal Mines of Coal India Limited highlighting the shortcomings in medical treatment to its employees. The memorandum has also highlighted the need to prevent diseases by taking timely measures by the CIL Management. This programme has received gret response from the workers of Coal India Limited.

COAL INDIA LIMITED SAFETY BOARD MEETING

Coal India Limited Safety Board meeting is scheduled to be held on 7th August 2008 at Kolkota. Akhil Bharatiya Khadan Mazdoor Sangh (Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) will be represented by Shri C.B. Frank, President in the Board. Various safety matters from the subsidiary companies of Coal India Limited will be raised in the meeting by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.
