JUSTICE TO CONTRACTORS WORKERS IN COAL INDIA LIMITED

Coal India Limited has deployed through its contractors many workers in its mines spread in 9 states of India. These workers are exploited by their employer i.e. Contractor by way of excess working hours, meagre wages and also exposing them to various hazards making them work without any safety gears. The Akhil Bharatiya Khadan Mazdoor Sangh(Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) demands that these contractor's workers should be paid minimum basic wage of Rs.5550.00 as per National Coal Wage Agreement-VII. These and other related issues will be highlighted in a memorandum to be submitted to the Sub Area Managers after a demonstration in all Sub Areas of Coal Companies on 7th, 8th and 9th August 2008.
